rain, rain go away.

first week down, seven to go. today we worked again on our work statement and sent it to our industry mentor. we started considering some of the math parts of the problem today so i felt like i knew a little more of what is going on. i actually came up with a really good idea before lunch and it took a few hours to find a special case where it isn't efficient. maybe we will just ignore those cases. i lunched in the cafeteria with my group again and this time i had green beans (like the ones at antai), some meat and broccoli dish, rice, and a banana. the fruit at fruit time today was chinese pears. they look like apples, taste like pears, and are so delicious and juicy! towards the end of the workday, we were all getting tired and anticipating the weekend.

it started pouring down rain outside between 5 and 6. there were actually some leaks in the glass/plastic looking ceiling in the lobby. so i decided to eat dinner at the japanese restaurant again which is in the basement with seven other people. we stopped by the bakery on the way back to the apartment and it was very interesting. they had some english translations on some of the products. instead of "piece of cake" it said "chaos piece"

the AC in our room is fixed!! when we walked in after work, the room was freezing. and i love it. the other girls decided to walk to walmart (even though it was still raining) and i asked them to get me some ping pong paddles cause i heard they were cheap. brittany came back soaking wet. and i found out why the paddles are cheap... they are CHEAP. maybe i'll have to invest in some better ones. the rain convinced us all to stay in tonight, so we played two different card games that were both ridiculously hard that only math majors would play. i need to teach them how to play kings&queens next time. the guys were doing shots of chinese liquor and it must have tasted awful because the looks on their faces were hilarious. tomorrow we are going to the forbidden city and some markets and parks. time to take some more pictures :)
